Information Requirements of Viewers in a Digital Age
Background
Given the opportunities afforded by the introduction of digital television, our client wished to explore the role of text and graphics within their overall offer.

Objectives
To explore the current role of text services, and to put a series of propositions using digital technology, to potential viewers.

Approach
Standard group discussions were used, with viewers who felt they were `one of the first' to explore and adopt new technology and its possibilities. A simulator was used within the groups to gradually introduce and probe attitudes towards, the offer from this multiplex. Respondents were allowed to `control' their browsing to explore their spontaneous interests and understanding, then were taken through the range of options available.

Outcome
The findings were used to decide the balance of programming vs. information/ text and graphics  within the multiplex, and to fine tune the channels and their accompanying text and graphic.
